Young Calves can be raised till they reach the age of Heifer(A female cow which never had a calf) and can be sold for the farmers who are need of Cattle for Dairy Farming. It will be beneficial to raise the calves which are of good breed in term of giving more milk, thus more money(Majority of the farmers in India prefer HF or Jersey. The HF breed produce A1 milk and also most of the milk co-operatives in India procure A1 milk or Buffalo milk). • Low requirement of Labour,Maintenance,Supervision
  • Profits can be high

  • Calves prefer open grazing. So, you need ample space for them to roam
  • Difficult to get Bank loans
  • Selection of Breed : During the calf stage it is difficult to correctly identify the breed. It is better to purchase from the breeders who maintain a proper record of Calf’s Family history.
  • Age may not be correctly identified as some Calves even they are more than one year they could look small as if they are young.
